Lead FDC Trainer, Sue Pappas conducted an Instructor Institute at the Margaritaville Resort in Orlando, Florida from December 1-4, 2024, at which 16 new instructors were certified to teach the Empowerment Skills for Family Workers course. They traveled from across the U.S. – Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Utah, Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, and Illinois. Our new instructors hold many different positions including Director of Pre-K, Family and Community Engagement Specialist, and Program Supervisor. They work within Head Start programs, migrant associations, community action agencies, and more.
Here is a sample of what these new FDC instructors had to say after the Institute:
“I am going to advocate requiring this course for all client-facing staff at my organization.”
“Having people from different places in the training provided various perspectives on the topics and subjects.”
“I believe that I am fully equipped to lead the program. I am looking forward to sharing knowledge gained as a student and now instructor.”
